KKR vs SRH: Brian Lara shakes his head in frustration after poor shot leads to Kane Williamson dismissal

Kane Williamson flopped yet again. The SunRisers Hyderabad captain’s lean run in IPL 2022 continued as the star batter managed just 9 runs in 17 balls against Kolkata Knight Riders in their must-win clash in Pune on Saturday, May 14. Williamson struggled to get going in a chase of 178 as the asking rate shot up for SRH as early as in the powerplay.

Williamson once again played quite a few dot balls, not for the want of trying but the New Zealand skipper has been in woeful form with the bat in IPL 2022.

Williamson was batting on 9 of 16 when and tried to do something fancy against Andre Russell in the final over of the powerplay. The Black Caps star tried to scoop one over the keeper but he ended up missing it and saw his stumps rattled.

KKR vs SRH, IPL 2022 Updates

As the flashing bails lit up, Williamson was distraught as he let go off another opportunity to contribute for SRH. Batting coach and legendary cricketer Biran Lara’s reaction from the dug-out told the story as he had his head buried in his hands in frustration.

Williamson’s struggle meant SRH managed only 31 runs in the powerplay despite Abhishek getting off to a brisk start.

Despite repeated comments from critics and experts to sacrifice the opening spot for in-form Rahul Tripathi or Aiden Markram, Williamson continued to bat at the top with young Abhishek Tripathi.

STRIKE RATE WOES

Williamson has scored at a strike rate of excess of 100 only 3 times in 12 innings in IPL 2022. He has scored 208 runs in 12 matches at a woeful strike rate of 92.

Fans on social media were not impressed with Williamson’s knock on Saturday. A few of them even called Williamson a liability to SRH in IPL 2022.

SunRisers Hyderabad are in danger of missing out on a playoffs berth as they are on a 4-match losing streak. SRH had begun their season with 2 defeats but stitched a 5-match winning run before losing steam.
