Kiwi legend Ross Taylor tears into his eyes during his speech at the Farewell Test – WATCH VIDEO

New Delhi: Kiwi legend Ross Taylor played the last match of his international career on Tuesday as New Zealand beat Bangladesh by an innings and 117 runs to end the two-match Test series 1-1.

The veteran batsman could not have expected a better farewell and ended his Test career with a wicket on the last ball of his 15-year Test career.

Taylor ended his Test career with the dismissal of Abadot Hossain – Bangladesh’s last wicket against New Zealand – to end his remarkable career on a memorable note.

“It’s great to end my career with a win and a wicket, I wanted to finish with a win and people did it. Bangladesh put us under a lot of pressure at times, it’s only fair that we share a series of matches. We were under pressure in the beginning, but then we got runs which gave us a good position, the boys came back well with the ball yesterday afternoon,” Taylor said after the match.

As Bangladesh’s ninth wicket fell, the spectators present at the Hagley Oval started taking Taylor’s name, after which captain Tom Latham handed him the ball. On the third ball of Taylor’s over, Abadot Hossain hit the ball over mid-wicket towards Tom Latham for a simple catch, giving the veteran only his third Test wicket in 112 Tests.

Taylor has picked up two wickets in the form of Harbhajan Singh and S Sreesanth during New Zealand’s tour of India in 2010 throughout his Test career. Taylor bowled only 16 overs in his entire Test career. The last time he bowled in a Test match was eight years ago.
