National Commission for Women member and actor-turned-politician Khushbu Sundar shared some heart-wrenching stories about her childhood. She revealed that she was abused by her father when she was eight years old. In a recent interview with a media portal, she said that when a child is sexually abused, the scar remains for life, adding that it is immaterial whether the child is a boy or a girl. She said that her mother had gone through a most abusive marriage, and that her father thought it was his birthright to beat his wife and children and abuse his only daughter.
Khushbu said that she kept her mouth shut for fear of ill-treatment from other family members, while she was a victim of abuse since the age of eight. She said that her only fear was whether her mother would believe because she had a ‘no matter what happens, my husband is God’ mentality.
She said that when she turned 15, she thought enough was enough and started speaking out against her father. The actress-turned-politician said that her father left the family when she was only 16 years old and the family did not know where the next meal would come from.
Khushbu took to Twitter on Sunday to criticize those who enjoy abusing others. She wrote, “My friends say when you stand up, people troll because they can’t reach your height. Can’t agree more. So I’m here to say to all those people who are into abusing and trolling Sad find joy, get well soon!” ,
In another recent post, she said, “I seek your prayers and support so that the interests of our ‘goddess’ are protected in every field!”
Meanwhile, Khushbu Sundar is a member of the BJP’s National Executive Committee. He has worked as an actor, film producer and television presenter.
