New Delhi: Leader of the Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge on Tuesday hit out at the Center and said the Amendment Bill to the Election Act 2021 was passed without any “discussion or debate”; Called it a “joke of democracy”.
Taking to Twitter, Kharge said, “Modi government The Election Act 2021 Amendment Bill is passed without any discussion or debate. The bill is in violation of SC Puttaswamy’s decision and will result in massive denial of franchise. How can it be passed without any discussion or scrutiny? This is a mockery of our democracy!”

Meanwhile, Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju, while talking to ANI yesterday had said that the opposition was asked to participate in the discussion and give their opinion, but they created chaos.
