Khaira: ED arrests former Punjab MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira in money laundering case. India News – Times of India

New Delhi: Directorate of Enforcement (Ed) arrested on Thursday Punjab MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira Officials said a money laundering case is being investigated against him and others.
He said that 56-year-old Khaira was detained by the Central Investigation Agency in Punjab under these provisions Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
The agency had raided their premises in March this year.
The ED has alleged that Khaira is an ‘accomplice’ of drug case convicts and fake passport rackets.
The politician has denied any wrongdoing and said he is being targeted by central agencies as he has been vocal against the Centre’s three new agricultural laws.
He had recently resigned from the state assembly.
Khaira had won the 2017 assembly elections Bholath Assembly seat of punjab Kapurthala District Own an Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) ticket.
