Back in 2008, Yuvraj Singh was called a pie chucker by the then England captain Kevin Pietersen. The war of words continued as India toured England a year later for the ICC T20 World Cup, where Yuvraj added fuel to the fire, saying he would dismiss Pietersen all the time. Cut to 2022, and the banter is still going strong as both the cricketers never miss an opportunity to tease each other with this famous ‘pick chucker’ word that has a place among fans of both the superstars. Meanwhile, Pietersen revealed the real reason for taking Yuvi’s name.

“Playing against Yuvraj Singh was always an issue. Left arm spin has always been an issue. But when Yuvraj came, I thought this was my chance to score. Then he started beating me. Then I started getting a little disappointed but my favorite shot against Yuvraj was the forward defensive block. That defensive shot, you can get past this pie-chucker”, said the former England captain in Legends League cricket.

“I pissed off Yuvraj solely on the basis of the fact that he knocked me a couple of times and I didn’t want to tell the rest of the world that he was any good. It was the garbage provider you play with. You think I am bigger than the other player and try to impose myself on the opposition and it comes back on you”, he said.

KP however revealed that he and Yuvraj have become ‘very good friends’ over the years and the incident was nothing but ‘fun at that time’. Meanwhile, describing India as a ‘global leader’ and ‘powerhouse’, Kevin Pietersen in a recent letter to the England legend thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his ‘incredibly kind words’. On January 26, on the occasion of Republic Day, Modi wrote a letter to ‘friends of India’ expressing gratitude for their affection for the country.

“Dear, Mr @narendramodi, thank you for the incredibly kind words in the letter to me. Since stepping into India in 2003, I have fallen in love with your country on every trip,” Peterson posted on Twitter on Friday morning, sharing the letter with her followers.
