THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state has no stock of vaccines to provide jabs from Tuesday. The current stock is exhausted on Monday, and only a few districts have very little stock. At least seven districts will not have any vaccination from Tuesday.

Earlier, speaking in the assembly, the minister said that the Center has promised 30 lakh vaccines to the state for August, but it is not enough.
The state needs at least 60 lakh vaccines in August. If they are providing 30 lakh doses, we can only provide eight lakh for the first dose vaccination as the rest will have to be given to the people waiting for the second dose.

Currently only 21% of people in the age group of 18 to 45 years have received the first dose, and of these, only 2.64 lakh have received the second dose. Similarly, 76% of those aged over 45 years have received the first dose, and 39% have received the second dose.
It is estimated that more than 14.8 million people over the age of 18 are still waiting for the first dose. Similarly, 27 lakh people above the age of 45 years have not yet received the first dose. Around 79 lakh people in this age group got the first jab, now awaiting the second dose. There are a total of 1.13 crore people in this age group.
As per the decision of the Centre, the next batch of vaccines for the state is expected on Thursday. Therefore, there is news that there will be no vaccination in the state for the next three days.
“The state is using the maximum dosage as soon as the consignment is received. So if we get six lakh vaccines, it will be over in two days. The state has recorded 4.5 lakh vaccinations in a day,” the minister said.
Meanwhile, districts like Wayanad and Kasaragod Achieved 100% vaccination (1st dose) for people above 45 years of age.
