Kerala: No G-23 in Congress, says Jairam Ramesh and Digvijay Singh | Thiruvananthapuram News – Times of India

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: AICC leaders Jairam Ramesh and Digvijay Singh said here on Tuesday that there is no G-23 group in the Congress party and it is just a figment of certain people’s imagination.
“Those who have left the Congress have not left due to ideological differences but on personal grounds. All these leaders have not flayed the RSS or Modi till now. Hence, it has to be believed that there is match fixing,” said Jairam Ramesh who was in the city as part of the campaign for the Bharat Jodo Yatra led by Rahul Gandhi which is beginning from Kanyakumari on September 7.
“We have seen many leaders in the departure launch of the party. Some have gone. Many people will come and go. Have you noticed one thing? Has anyone criticized Modi or the RSS till now? That was the reason why we claim that there is match fixing,” said Ramesh.
The Congress is united. People who have served 30 long years in Parliament under the Congress have left not because of ideological differences, said Jairam Ramesh in an apparent dig at Gulam Nabi Azad without naming him.
The AICC leaders said that the Congress is committed to an ideology and has been in the forefront agitating against the economic policies of the NDA government. “When the pandemic made 99% of the people poorer in the country, only 1% became the rich. We are against this,” said Ramesh.
He said that the Bharat Jodo Yatra is to mobilise the party workers and rejuvenate the party. “The Congress will demonstrate its capacity in the Bharat Jodo Yatra. The people will take part in large numbers in the yatra from Kanyakumari to Kashmir. In the last five days alone 35,000 people have registered for the yatra,” said Ramesh.
It is purely a political initiative and a political yatra. The idea is to have mass contact through this yatra. The Congress is coming to the streets to meet the people. A political mobilization is what we are intending through this yatra, he added.
