To make way for this 205-kilometre stretch, spanning from Thiruvananthapuram Ring Road to the Angamaly Bypass, 950 hectares of land will be acquired.
The plan to build a high-speed road from Thiruvananthapuram to Angamaly is picking up speed.
This project, initially proposed by the central government, is now part of Vision 2047 by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. It’s replacing the Bharatmala project.
National Highway Authorities have taken the first steps and sent them to the Ministry of Roads. India aims to construct 50,000 kilometers of controlled-access highways by 2047, and Kerala will be a part of it.
As per Mathrubhumi.com, these highways will have fewer exits, and tolls will be based on the distance traveled, thanks to a GPS-centered toll system.
The Kozhikode-Palakkad National Highway will be the first in Kerala to operate under this system, built through public-private partnerships.
Changes are coming to the Thiruvananthapuram-Angamaly corridor, including expanding it to four lanes.
To create this 205-kilometer road, spanning from Thiruvananthapuram Ring Road to the Angamaly Bypass, 950 hectares of land will be acquired.
Land will be acquired from various taluks like Nedumangad, Kottarakkara, Punalur, and more. Authorities plan to avoid inhabited areas as much as possible with the new alignment.
