Kerala: Covid toll climbs to 12,700; Test positivity rate 10.6% | Thiruvananthapuram News – Times of India

Thiruvananthapuram: The Covid toll in the state reached 12,700 after 118 people died in the list recently. Meanwhile, out of 1,08,867 samples tested in 24 hours, 11,546 fresh Covid-19 cases were reported.
At least 11,056 were cured during the day, but the number of active cases in the state has risen to 1,00,230. The test positivity rate in the state is 10.6%. There are 313 local bodies with less than 8% TPR while in 545 areas it is between 8-16%. In 152 local bodies, the TPR is in the range of 16-24% and in 24 areas it is above 24%.
Of the new cases, 10,771 persons were infected through local contacts, while the sources of infection in 624 persons are unknown. Apart from this, the virus has also been confirmed in 70 people who came to the state recently.
There were 81 fresh cases among healthcare workers in the state, with Kasaragod district contributing 16 cases, followed by Kannur, 12, Kollam, 11 more Thiruvananthapuram, 10. Malappuram reported the highest number of cases, 1,374, followed by Thiruvananthapuram, 1,291, Kollam, 1,200, Thrissur, 1,134, Ernakulam, 1,112, Palakkad, 1,061, Kozhikode, 1,004, Kasaragod, 729, Alappuzha, 660, Kannur, 619, Kottayam, 488, Pathanamthitta, 432, Idukki, 239 more Wayanad, 203.
So far 27,52,492 persons have recovered from coronavirus infection in the state while 2,25,06,647 samples have been tested.
Most of the cases of infection through local contacts were reported from Malappuram (1,331), followed by Thiruvananthapuram with 1,192 and Kollam with 1,187.
Kollam district tops the recovery count (1,819), followed by Ernakulam, 1,504, and Thiruvananthapuram, 1,392. 3,92,633 persons are under observation in the state, of which 3,66,650 are at their homes or institutional quarantine centers and 25,983 are in isolation in hospitals.
