KCBC says Kerala is facing serious social crises.

Days after Catholic bishops raised the issue of ‘love and narcotic jihad’ in the state, the Kerala Catholic Bishops’ Council (KCBC) on Saturday said Kerala is facing a serious social crisis.

The KCBC said, “There is a startling increase in the presence of some significant terrorist activities and drug use. Despite warnings by various investigative agencies, no background investigation was conducted into these groups.”

The Kerala Catholic Bishops’ Council also reacted to Joseph Kallarangat’s statements, saying, “The fact that money from drug trafficking is being used for terrorist activities has been clarified in the UN report. It is appropriate that the words of Pala Bishop Joseph Kallarangat should not be made controversial, but publicly discussed responsibly.”

The Kerala Catholic Bishops’ Council said, “Government should be prepared to take appropriate action by properly investigating public concerns about terrorist movements and drug mafia. This is not an allegation against any community. To expose.”

“The bias that such disclosures are communally motivated is not good. Instead, community leaders should act to address such weaknesses and maintain social harmony. Our aim is not communal polarization, but communal harmony. And cooperation is on,” the Kerala Catholic Bishops’ Council added.
