Kerala accounts for more than 50% of total Covid cases reported from Maharashtra, says govt. India News – Times of India

New Delhi: More than half of the total COVID-19 cases are coming from Kerala and Maharashtrahandjob Union Health Ministry said on Friday.
Addressing a press conference, Ministry of Health Said that the country is still dealing with a second wave and urged people to continue to follow COVID-19 appropriate behaviour.
“80% new covid Cases have been reported from 90 districts in 15 states and union territories in India, indicating the need to focus on these areas. 66 districts in 17 states and union territories reported a COVID positivity rate of more than 10 per cent for the week ended July 8,” the health ministry said.
“More than half of the Covid-19 cases reported in India last week are from two states – Maharashtra (21%) and Kerala (32%), it added.
The health ministry also expressed concern over the increasing crowd at tourist places and described it as “serious of concern”.
Dr. VK Paul, Member- Dr. VK Paul Health, NITI Aayog said.
The Center reiterated that it is important for pregnant women to get the vaccine as COVID-19 can increase certain risks such as pre-term delivery.
