On March 30, fire and rescue personnel reportedly conducted a training session for PFI workers as part of an event organized by the organization in Aluva.

In Kerala’s Ernakulam district, two fire brigade officials were suspended and three were transferred following a dispute over giving fire fighting training to the Popular Front of India (PFI) workers.

On March 30, fire and rescue personnel reportedly conducted a training session for PFI workers as part of an event organized by the organization in Aluva.

The Regional Fire Officer and the District Fire Officer have been suspended pending investigation.

Photos of the training session went viral, following which state fire chief B Sandhya ordered a probe into the matter. Bharatiya Janata Party state chief K Surendran posted pictures on Twitter, saying the Left government was welcoming “jihadi forces” to the red carpet.

Congress and BJP leaders demanded action against the officers who imparted training.

Sandhya submitted the report to the state, alleging lapse on the part of five personnel, on the basis of which action was taken.

Meanwhile, the Director General of Kerala Fire and Rescue Services has issued a circular banning rescue training programs for political and religious organizations. The circular also warned of action against employees conducting such training.

The circular said that the incident was taken seriously and hence the circular was issued.
