Neither the Punjab Chief Minister nor the Power Minister was present in the meeting. However, on Tuesday afternoon, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann will meet Kejriwal and a decision can be taken on free electricity. At the same time, the AAP leadership of Punjab is once again on the target of the opposition after the meeting held in Delhi.
In a meeting held in Delhi on Monday, discussions were held with Punjab Chief Secretary Anirudh Tiwari, Energy Secretary Dilip Kumar and PSPCL Chairman Baldev Singh Saran to provide free electricity in the state. The meeting was presided over by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. He was accompanied by Delhi Minister Satyendar Jain, Rajya Sabha member Raghav Chadha were present in this meeting. At the same time, no big leader including the Chief Minister of the state attended the meeting convened on the decision to provide free electricity in Punjab.

AAP had given a guarantee of cheap electricity in the Punjab Assembly elections.
300 units of free electricity is under siege
The issue of electricity was a big issue during the assembly elections in Punjab. Before the elections, the Aam Aadmi Party, while announcing its guarantees, had announced that after coming to power, all consumers in Punjab would be given 300 units of free and cheap electricity as well as 24 hours. After the formation of your government, neither people are getting cheap electricity nor 24 hours supply. Due to which people feel cheated.
Channi government had reduced rates
After the announcement of the guarantee of the Aam Aadmi Party, the Chief Minister of the then Congress government, Charanjit Singh Channi did not give electricity free of cost but had drastically cut the electricity rates. Along with this, former CM Channi had also waived off the outstanding electricity bills of the people. However, the Congress government’s promise was only till the budget session i.e. 31 March 2022. Now Aam Aadmi Party has come to power.
Center also warned to stop subsidy
After the increase in the rate, the opposition has started the siege of the Aam Aadmi Party government. They are being reminded of their promise. During this, discussions are also going on that the central government has also tightened the noose on the state government regarding free electricity. The central government has also made it clear that if electricity is given free of cost, then it will stop the subsidy given to the Punjab government.
