Kejriwal, Mann start Gujarat campaign by visiting Sabarmati Ashram, will hold roadshow

Ahmedabad: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his Punjab counterpart Bhagwant Mann Visited Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad city of Gujarat on Saturday.

The two Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders also spun the charkha at the Sabarmati Ashram, ANI reported.

Kejriwal and Mann will later reach the Nikol area of ​​the city to lead the ‘Tiranga Yatra’.

The program is part of his two-day visit to Gujarat, in which assembly elections are likely to be held by the end of December this year.

Earlier on Friday, Gujarat AAP general secretary Manoj Sorathia said, “The two-km road show, which we are calling the Tiranga Yatra, will cover the Nikol and Bapunagar areas of Ahmedabad city.”

“Around 50,000 people, including all prominent party leaders from across the state, will participate,” he said.

In view of Kejriwal and Mann’s visit, the AAP unit in Ahmedabad has asked city police commissioner Sanjay Srivastava to take additional measures to protect the two leaders.

This comes against the backdrop of vandalism amid protests outside Kejriwal’s residence in the national capital a few days back.

“Some miscreants recently attacked Kejriwal’s residence in Delhi. We fear that some people may attack our leaders here also.

“Therefore, we have sent a letter to the police commissioner to take extra precautions and ensure the safety of our leaders here,” he said.

Sorathia said that both the AAP leaders will visit the Swaminarayan temple in Shahibagh area on Sunday evening before going back to the national capital.
