Kejriwal leaves for Punjab to attend Mann’s swearing-in ceremony as Punjab CM

Delhi Chief Minister and AAP’s national convener Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday left for Punjab to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. Elaborate arrangements have been made for the swearing-in ceremony of Mann at Khatkar Kalan, the native village of great freedom fighter Bhagat Singh in Shaheed Bhagat Singh (SBS) Nagar district.

He said, ‘Today is a big day for Punjab. In this golden morning of new hope, today the whole of Punjab will come together and take a pledge to make it a prosperous Punjab. I have also left for Khatkar Kalan, the native village of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, to witness that historic moment.” More than three lakh people are expected to attend Mann’s swearing-in ceremony.

The nominated Chief Minister of Punjab had invited people to attend the ceremony and said that three crore people of the state would also take oath with him.

Before taking oath as the Chief Minister of Punjab on Wednesday, AAP leader Bhagwant Mann said that the entire state would take oath to fulfill the dreams of Bhagat Singh and Babasaheb Ambedkar. All preparations have been completed for Mann’s swearing-in ceremony at Khatkar Kalan, the native village of great freedom fighter Bhagat Singh in Shaheed Bhagat Singh (SBS) Nagar district of Punjab.

Mann tweeted in Punjabi saying, “The golden ray of sun has brought a new dawn today. To fulfill the dreams of Shaheed Bhagat Singh and Babasaheb (BR Ambedkar), the whole of Punjab will take oath at Khatkar Kalan today. Aam Aadmi Party supporters from many places of the state started reaching Khatkar Kalan on Wednesday morning to attend the swearing-in ceremony.

The men wore yellow turbans while the women were draped in yellow dupatta. Mann, 48, had invited the people of the state to attend his swearing-in ceremony, saying that three crore people of Punjab would also take oath with him.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and other senior party leaders will also attend the swearing-in ceremony. Tight security arrangements have been made for the function and several senior officials including Inspector General and Senior Superintendents of Police have been deployed for the event.

Officials said around 8,000 to 10,000 security personnel have been deployed for the event. Meanwhile, newly elected MLA from Anandpur Sahib Harjot Bains said, “Today is the beginning of a new dawn for Punjab.” Together we will fulfill the dreams of Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh, this will be a true tribute to our martyrs.
