Keanu Reeves, the Hollywood star best known for his roles in critically acclaimed films like John Wick and The Matrix, is in the process of developing a documentary about Formula One for streaming giant Disney+. The focus of the four-part documentary will be primarily on Formula One Managing Director Ross Brown, who led the Honda team, renamed Brawn GP, to two unprecedented championship victories.
According to Variety, Keanu Reeves will be the host of the series and the actor is busy conducting interviews for the same. The documentary team includes well-known faces such as former Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo, who was seen last month alongside drivers Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello with Keanu Reeves. If reports are to be believed, Braun will also take part in this process.
Keanu Reeves was seen last week at the British Grand Prix in Silverstone, UK, where the actor chatted with a local racing journalist about the documentary series. “We want to tell that wonderfully remarkable story (of Brown). There is a lot to talk about,” he said.
The John Wick star further elaborated, “A friend of mine was telling me the story and I was very impressed by it. He was actually doing promotions for Bron Back these days and he’s a producer/director and so we were like ‘Let’s tell that story, let’s try and tell that story,’
Keanu continued, “It was really great to be able to learn more about what was going on in Formula One that year. It wasn’t just the cars, the new rules, the FOTA (Formula One Teams Association), the breakaway series. I mean that’s just what was happening in Formula One at the time. The world of Formula One was just extraordinary. I mean, it’s always extraordinary, but with the Brawn GP that year I think something really special happened was. “
Currently Formula One is trending around the world. In addition to Keanu Reeves, Brad Pitt, John Krasinski and Jerry Bruckheimer have come together for a Formula One film produced by Apple Studios. On the other hand, Formula One is in the process of making a series about the life of champion Bernie Ecclestone.
