According to reports, actor Kathir will play the lead opposite actress Divya Bharti in the Tamil remake of Malayalam hit film Ishq. Zero fame director Shiva Moh will direct the Tamil remake and will be handled by Eagle Eye Productions. An official announcement is expected soon.
Actress Divya Bharti, who made her acting debut with the recently released Bachelor opposite GV Prakash Kumar, has already signed on to play the female lead in the Tamil remake of Ishq. According to reports, the makers have approached Kathir for the role of the male lead.
Malayalam film Ishq was directed by Anuraj Manohar and written by Ratheesh Ravi. The romantic thriller starred actor Shane Nigam and actress N Sheetal in lead roles. It was released in May 2019 and is available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
The makers are all set to start shooting for the Tamil remake. They want to take the film to the Tamil audience with Kathir as the lead protagonist. After finalizing Divya Bharti as the female lead, the makers are on the way to finalize Kathir as the male lead. Reports say that the makers will announce it in January 2022.
Kathir is currently shooting for his upcoming film Thalaikoothal. The film is directed by Lens fame Jayaprakash Radhakrishnan and also stars Samuthirakani. The film will be shot around Kovilpatti, Ambasamudram and Tenkasi in Tamil Nadu.
Kathir made his debut in the lead role in Madha Yanai Koottam in 2013. He received critical acclaim for his performances in Kirumi, Vikram Vedha, Pariyeram Perumal and Sigai.
He was last seen in the Tamil film Sharbat. It is based on the antics of two families, which result in fun and turmoil together. The film was released directly on Colors Tamil on April 11, 2021.
