control board for Cricket In India (BCCI) has written to the world cricket body ICC urging them not to accept the Kashmir Premier League, which is rapidly dividing the cricketing world. The tournament will be played in Muzaffarabad in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), which is the center of a disputed land—a dispute between India and Pakistan for years. The tournament is scheduled to begin from August 6 and will feature top Pakistani cricketers like Shahid Afridi, Shoaib Malik and others.

“The basis of the BCCI complaint focuses on the status of Kashmir as a disputed territory – and whether matches can be played in such areas – and its central place in the long-running dispute between the two countries. The situation in Kashmir has been the cause of many wars between India and Pakistan ever since India gained independence and became Pakistan in 1947. The two countries control parts of the region but control it separately. In its report, ESPN Cricinfo said, the political and diplomatic relations between the two countries have had their ups and downs over the years, and are currently going through a prolonged low.

Meanwhile, several cricketers, including South Africa’s Herschelle Gibbs, have alleged that the Indian Cricket Board is doing everything to stop them from joining the KPL. The Pakistan Cricket Board has also taken a dig at BCCI: “Such conduct of BCCI is completely unacceptable, against the preamble of the spirit of cricket and sets a dangerous precedent, which can neither be tolerated nor ignored. can be done. The PCB will take up the matter in the appropriate ICC Forum and also reserves the right to take further action as per the ICC Charter.”

Monty Panesar dismissed

Panesar decided to retire from KPL 2021 after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) ‘advised’ him about the results. Reportedly, the BCCI is not happy with Pakistan organizing the Kashmir League and has warned all foreign players against participating in the tournament.

“I decided not to participate in this league because I was clearly advised by the ECB and BCCI that if I do play, it could result in me being denied a visa in the future and Probably could be denied any cricketing opportunity in India. . I have just started my media-sports career and India is one of the places I want to work. The negatives outweigh the pros. I would have missed a big opportunity in India,” Panesar was quoted as saying by Republic World.
