Kashmir massacre: Amit Shah holds review meeting with NSA Doval, J&K LG, Army Chief

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday held a review meeting to discuss the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir in the wake of the serial killings in the Valley, officials said. National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval, Army Chief General Manoj Pandey and Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha were also among those who attended the meeting.

The Home Minister reviewed the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir, a ministry official said, adding that security arrangements for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra were also discussed in the meetings.

The meeting took place after terrorists carried out a series of killings in the Kashmir Valley involving non-Muslims, security personnel, an artist and local citizens. A bank employee and a brick kiln worker were killed while another worker was injured in two separate incidents in Kashmir on Thursday.

The bank manager was the ninth and the laborer was the 10th such murder in Kashmir since May 1. A woman teacher hailing from Samba district of Jammu region was shot dead by terrorists at a school in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Tuesday. On May 18, terrorists barged into a liquor shop in North Kashmir’s Baramulla and hurled a grenade, killing one person from the Jammu region and injuring three others.

On 24 May, policeman Saifullah Qadri was shot dead outside his residence in Srinagar. Two days later, television artist Amrin Bhat was shot dead in Budgam. Scores of Kashmiri Pandits, who worked under the Prime Minister’s package in 2012, have been protesting in the Chadoora area of ​​central Kashmir’s Budgam district, threatening a mass exodus since the May 12 killing of Rahul Bhat by terrorists.

The high-level meeting chaired by Shah was the second such meeting in less than a fortnight. Union Home Secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla, Director of Intelligence Bureau Arvind Kumar, Director General of Central Reserve Police Force Kuldeep Singh, Border Security Force chief Pankaj Singh and Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police Dilbagh Singh, among others, attended the meeting. ,

Earlier, Shah held an informal meeting with LG Manoj Sinha, Arvind Kumar, RAW secretary Samant Goel and Jammu and Kashmir DGP Dilbag Singh.
