Alleging that BJP’s state unit general secretary Anil Sachar has repeatedly threatened various party leaders, he has sought the intervention of the Union Home Minister.

Alleging that there is a serious threat to the party’s state leadership, the Punjab BJP has written a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah demanding security for some senior leaders.

Citing the “poor law and order situation” in Punjab and repeated threat calls allegedly made to various party leaders, BJP’s state unit general secretary Anil Sachar has sought the Home Minister’s intervention. In the light of the threats being received by the BJP leaders and workers in Punjab, adequate security arrangements should be made for their security, otherwise there may be incidents threatening the life and property of these leaders.

Sachar alleged apathy of the state police machinery towards the threat calls. “The police administration is ignoring the death threats being received by the public and BJP leaders; trend of extortion followed by killings of traders and industrialists and regular recovery of explosive materials in various districts of the State; Due to which law and order has gone haywire and now it has become difficult for BJP leaders and workers to live peacefully in Punjab. If the situation is not checked then Kashmir like situation may arise in the state which will force the civilized people to leave the state and the state will become a zone of hooliganism and terrorism.

The letter claimed recent threat calls and messages to a BJP leader in the name of “Lashkar-e-Khalistan”, which were brought to the notice of the authorities in Jalandhar.

BJP’s cultural wing state co-convenor Sunny Sharma wrote in his complaint that he received threatening messages from an international number on his mobile phone several times, including several times on December 23. Was added to a group on WhatsApp called “Khalistan and Lashkar-e-Khalsa” by people he didn’t know. He sought protection for himself and his family so that no harm would come to them.
