Varanasi : Prime Minister Narendra ModiK constituency, Varanasi has been recognized in various categories of Smart City Awards, 2020, which was announced by Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs on Friday. While Indore and Surat jointly won the city award for holistic development, Uttar Pradesh won in the state category.
Municipal commissioner Gaurang Rathi told TOI, “Varanasi has been awarded for eco-restoration of the river Assi in the water category, smart cities leadership award category, Covid innovation award and round wise recognition.” “We are focusing on active participation of the people” smart city Our mission is to further strengthen our position.”
The Smart City Awards were given on the topics of social aspects, governance, culture, urban environment, sanitation, economy, built environment, water and urban mobility. Some interesting topics were added this year, ICCC’s Sustainable Business Model and Innovation Awards in COVID Management.
The awards were announced during an online event organized by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs to mark the completion of six years of the Transformative Urban Mission – Smart Cities MissionAtal Mission for Urban Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation and Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban, which was launched by the Prime Minister on June 25, 2015.
