In response, the Karnataka Congress alleged that the RSS and BJP had a hidden agenda to polarize the state ahead of the assembly elections and that the state government should take action against the VHP leader.

A Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader on Saturday said the 2002 Gujarat riots showed the “courage and capability of Hindus”, and Hindu youth gave a “befitting” reply to “Muslim jihadists” for the murder of BJP Yuva Morcha leader Praveen Netru. gave. Amid nationwide furore over a BBC documentary on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Hindutva outfit leader Sharan Pumpwell made the controversial remarks during Bajrang Dal’s ‘Shaurya Yatra’ in Karnataka’s Tumkur district.

“My dear brothers, the Hindu community is never impotent. It can never be disabled. We have proved our strength to the world. Remember what happened in Gujarat? There were 58 warriors or kar sevaks traveling in the train to build the Ram temple in Ayodhya. But they were handed over to the fire. How did Gujarat respond? No one stayed in their homes, they took to the streets and entered from house to house. How many died in the killing of 58 kar sevaks in Gujarat? There is no exact count, but around 2,000 people were killed in Gujarat and this shows the courage and capability of the Hindus. Do we lack courage? Do we lack capacity? Pumpwell said.

Elaborating on his provocative statement, Pumpwell said that after the killing of Netaru in Mangaluru on July 26, 2022, Hindu youths had given a befitting reply to Muslim jihadists in Surathkal.

“To answer to the Muslim Jihadis who were responsible for killing Praveen Netaru, he was killed by angry youths in Surathkal; Not in a secluded place but in the open market. This is the power of the youth.

Taking note of Pumpwell’s statements, the Karnataka Congress alleged that the RSS and BJP had a hidden agenda to polarize the state ahead of the assembly elections. Congress MLC Nagraj Yadav demanded that the state government take action against the VHP leader for attempting to disturb the law and order situation.

“It should not be encouraged. The matter has been discussed in the court. Why is it discussed in public? This worsens the law and order situation in the country. People handling law and order in the state should take cognizance of this And it should be taken seriously and an explanation should be sought from this person.A case should be registered against him,” Yadav said.

The Congress MLC further alleged that the state BJP would never initiate action against the leaders of such Hindutva organization as they were sponsored by the right wing.

“How can you expect action from an incompetent government? Right wing is sponsored by people who are part of the government. they don’t believe in the constitution of India and secularism. They do not respect every religion,” he said.
