BENGALURU: In what may come as a relief to motorists across the state, the government on Monday launched contactless/faceless transport services.
The initiative covers 30 transport services, including 19 vahans (to do with vehicle registration) and 11 sarathis (driving licences). transport Department Officials said that this will reduce the congestion in RTOs by about 70% and save around 70 crore papers per year.

On a pilot basis, it will be extended to the entire state,” the CM said.

Officials said the services include issue of learner’s license, registration of motor vehicle with fully formed body, change of name in LL, transfer of ownership of motor vehicle, issue of duplicate registration certificate and change of address in RC.

In March 2021, MORTH issued a notification listing several transport-related services that can be availed through Aadhaar authentication without visiting the RTO.
