Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said here on Wednesday that the Karnataka government will bring in a law aimed at freeing Hindu temples from the laws and regulations that currently govern them. The chief minister also said that the government would constitute a special task force to implement the anti-conversion bill once it becomes a law.
“Our seniors have informed me about things… Places of worship of other communities are protected under various laws and they are free to practice. But our Hindu temples are subjected to various controls and government laws and regulations. There is a system under which permission should also be sought from the higher authorities to utilize the temple revenue for its development,” Bommai said. “It is the wish of our elders that Hindu temples be freed from such controls and laws,” he said while addressing the state BJP executive here. “I want to tell this executive that our government will bring a law to this effect before the budget session. We will free our temples from such laws and conditions. There will be nothing but regulation. We will ensure that they are freed. managed,” he said.
This is seen as another big move by the Bommai government when it got the controversial “Karnataka Protection of Right to Freedom of Religion Bill, 2021”, which was recently called as ‘Anti-Conversion Bill’ passed in the Legislative Assembly during the legislature session. is referred to as. in Belagavi. However, the bill is yet to become law as it is pending for introduction and passage in the Legislative Council.
Stating that the government has been able to give impetus to the long-pending anti-conversion bill, Bommai said it is because the BJP is committed to it. He said, “The anti-conversion bill will become law in the coming days, I will also constitute a special task force for its implementation.”
Taking a dig at Leader of the Opposition Siddaramaiah for his remarks to repeal the anti-conversion laws proposed by the Congress soon after coming to power, the Chief Minister said, “His dream will never come true and that is why AAP (Congress) is in power. Won’t come.” “The anti-conversion law, which protects the right to freedom of religion, will last as long as there is a sun and a moon,” he said. Bommai also said that the government has decided to develop Anjanadri in Koppal district (which has been revered as the birthplace of Lord Hanuman for years) internationally.
“After the inauguration of the Ram temple (in Ayodhya), we will also get this development work inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. We will convert it into a holy site,” he said. The Chief Minister promised to give a new dimension to the administration from January.
He also said that a road map will be prepared for the 2023 assembly elections to be held in 2022, so that the report card of the government can be presented to the people seeking their support. Bommai said he will work to ensure that “lotus blooms again in Vidhana Soudha in the 2023 Assembly elections” and will take everyone together to achieve this goal.
