Chitradurga: Holalkere Police has arrested one Cheat presented as a police And forcibly took money, jewelry and cell phones from people.
Murali RA became a victim on 10th December Forced ransom Rayanahalli of Hiriyur taluk filed a police complaint.
Police later identified him as 40-year-old Rajasekharappa S, a resident of Kudligere in Bhadravati taluk of Shivamogga district.
Murali told the police that while he was calling on his bike, a bike rider came to him. He said that he is a cop and started questioning him. He later snatched Murali’s cellphone, threatened and took Rs 1,000 from her and fled. Murali narrated the incident to Chitrahalli Gate Police.
Chitradurga SP Radhika ji formed a team under the leadership of Holkere Inspector KN Ravish and worked to catch the thugs.
The team caught Rajashekharappa on the evening of 14 December. He confessed to the police that he had extorted money from many people in Chitrahalli Gate police station, Chikkajajur police station and Sri Rampura police station areas of Chitradurga district.
SP Radhika said that he also said that he targeted boys and girls on bikes in parks and deserted places and snatched their valuables on the pretext of police.
Police have recovered stolen goods worth Rs 2.09 lakh from the driver, which includes a gold necklace chain, four cell phones and a motor bike.
The SP said that the accused has been sent to judicial custody.
