Karnataka: First shot of Kovid-19 vaccine received in all 104 villages of Haveri. Mysuru News – Times of India

Haveri: In a district that gained notoriety for Covid-19 vaccine hesitation, in 104 villages Breakdown 100% first-dose coverage is achieved. The commendable achievement came because of the hard work of the officers, who had to travel to several villages to persuade people to take the shot.
With the vaccine supply stabilizing, the district authorities organized special immunization camps and back-to-back ‘Lasika Melas’ to mark the achievement. The local bodies conducted regular door-to-door campaigns in these villages, most of which are in rural areas of the district.
“We have achieved 83% first dose coverage across the district, and we will soon vaccinate the remaining eligible population,” said Dr Jayanand, District Reproductive Child Health Officer and nodal officer for Covid-19 vaccination. “Till now, around 10 lakh first doses and around three lakh second doses have been given. Out of this, 97 thousand doses have been given in these 104 villages. We achieved 100% first dose coverage in Hirekerur taluk and Aladgere (8,086 doses), Hattimattur (5,804), Kadakol (3,444) and Hurulicoppi (3,326) in Savanur taluk.
He said that the district was getting adequate dosage every day and the local authorities plan to increase the number of sessions. “Initially, people had to wait in long queues due to lack of dosage,” an official said. “But now, health workers are giving jabs at the door, so it is hassle free. In fact, during the Lasika Melas, the authorities are finding it difficult to get the deserving people.”
