Karnataka education minister criticized for comment on students’ shoes

Siddaramaiah condemned State government “First remove this anti-education person from the cabinet”.

Due to non-allocation of funds in the current year’s budget, the Education Department has abandoned the scheme of cycles, shoes and socks. Congress leaders criticized the government’s decision.

Subsequently, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai approved a proposal of Rs 132 crore for the distribution of shoes and socks to school children following the Education Minister’s statement and the Congress party’s criticism.
