Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada The district of Karnataka celebrated the 75th Independence Day in a meaningful way without any pomp and gaiety due to the Covid-19 surge.
Fisheries, Ports and Inland Transport Minister S Angara on Sunday unfurled the tricolor at Nehru Maidan in a function organized following the COVID-19 protocol.
“We have already given around 13 lakh doses of vaccines to people in Dakshina Kannada. NS Wenlock District Hospital Upgraded to Super Specialty Center while all Public Health Centers in the district are well equipped for better treatment. The Super Specialty Medicine Block at Wenlock Hospital has been constructed at a cost of Rs 23.5 crore and the Super Specialty Surgical Block at a cost of Rs 35.2 crore.
The minister called upon the people to be prepared to face the possibility of a third wave of infection.
“Let us be vigilant and follow the instructions of experts to contain the spread of the virus. Our aim should be to protect our children and secure their future. Religious leaders, social workers, educationists, farmers, government officials, health sector employees and everyone else should understand it as their responsibility to protect the lives of the people.
