Karnataka: 38 monkeys found dead in Hassan, suspected of poisoning Mysuru News – Times of India

Hassan: 38 monkeys (bonnet macaques) were found dead in a suspected case of poisoning near Chaudanahalli village in the district. Belur Taluk Inn Hasan On Wednesday night district monkeys were killed elsewhere and the carcasses were dumped in the village. Children were also included in the pile of dead monkeys. The health officer of Belur taluk visited the spot and ruled out KFD outbreak.
When the villagers were going home at 11 o’clock on Wednesday night, they saw sacks scattered on the road. He opened the bags and was shocked to see the monkeys inside. Most of the monkeys were dead except five, who jumped from the bag and ran towards the forest area.
“The two monkeys were bleeding from their mouths and noses. Both were also beaten by clubs. Foam was coming out of the mouth of the other monkeys. Samples will be sent for testing on Friday. The results will confirm whether he was poisoned,” said Gangadhar, Assistant Director, Veterinary Hospital, Belur.
