TV actor Karan Patel has rejected offers to join Bigg Boss many times over, expressing his strong dislike for the reality show. He’s previously criticised the show as “dirty and disrespectful.” However, in a recent interview, he clarified that his comments were misunderstood. Karan spoke at length about his reasons for disliking the show and stressed that gaining favour from host Salman Khan may not always lead to career opportunities in the entertainment industry.

Speaking to Galatta India, he said, “My statement was taken the wrong way. Senseless minds don’t have the ability to think. What I meant is even Salman bhai says it again and again that the show has become so dirty that even he cannot sit with his mother and watch it. That’s exactly what I repeated. That’s the reason why I don’t do that show because, first of all, the mix of crowd I don’t understand. Why was it required? I understand you have a lot of different kind of audiences but if you don’t draw a line between a celebrity entering the show and when a commoner enters then who are people watching the show for?”

He added, “Being disrespectful is an understatement. People now don’t have any boundaries, they can stoop to any level. These last 2-3 years how cheap and disgusting they have gotten. I can’t especially tolerate that happening to a woman, even I don’t get along with somebody. I would slap a guy on the road if I see him misbehaving with a woman. Unfortunately, slapping isn’t allowed in Bigg Boss. Otherwise, everyone will have swollen cheeks if I go.”

Karan also shared his view on Bigg Boss’s impact on careers, saying that the show doesn’t make or break careers. “Those who came out of Bigg Boss started their careers from the same place they entered the show. For instance, my friend Aly Goni, YRF didn’t sign him after he came out of Bigg Boss. They are still where they are. It is you who can make or break it depending on what you do inside the house. Salman Khan saying that ‘you deserve a lot of work’ is not going to get you a film. He might like you, that’s his generosity, but it is not going to snowball into offers.”
