Karan Johar praises Kashmir Files
Filmmaker Karan Johar, in a recent interview, opened up about the success of Vivek Agnihotri’s The Kashmir Files and called the film an ‘andolan’.
Vivek Agnihotri’s The Kashmir Files has become one of the most successful films of all time, not only after the pandemic. Made on a modest budget, the film has been running successfully for the past three weeks and has already earned over Rs. 225 crores in India alone. The film has been well received by the audience and the people of the industry have also talked a lot about it. Now the name of filmmaker Karan Johar can also be added to the list of people who like the film. In fact, he called it ’till movement’ in a recent interview.
Talking to Galta Plus, Karan Johar said, “The Kashmir Files is not made on a budget like many other films. But perhaps it is going to be the biggest hit of Indian cinema cost-to-profit. You have to accept that there is something that is connecting with this country and academically you have to look at it. You have to see to assimilate it, to learn from it, see, it is the movement that has happened. It’s not a film anymore, it’s a movement.”
Before Karan Johar, many celebs talked about how much they love The Kashmir Files. Yami Gautam and Aditya Dhar were some of the first people who urged others to watch the film. Stars like Akshay Kumar and Kangana Ranaut also sang praises. The Kashmir Files has broken many records and has managed to capture big budget films like Akshay Kumar’s Bachchan Pandey.
Releasing on March 11, the film is about the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits. The film starred Anupam Kher, Darshan Kumar and Mithun Chakraborty in lead roles. A week after its release, it was also dubbed in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada. The collection of the film has crossed Rs. 300 million worldwide, and the ban has been lifted in the United Arab Emirates. The Kashmir Files will release in UAE from April 7.
