10,000 security personnel, drones, CCTV to increase security of Kanwar Yatra: Uttarakhand DGP

Kanwar Yatra: Uttarakhand Director General of Police Ashok Kumar said on Monday that around 10,000 security personnel will guard the law and order situation with drones and CCTV cameras during the upcoming Kanwar Yatra.

Addressing an inter-state coordination meeting, Kumar said that in view of the huge rush of Shiva devotees in the month of Shravan, drones and CCTV cameras will be used, while social media will be monitored to ensure tight security. Will go

An appeal will be made to the Kanwariyas to cooperate with the police and local administration in maintaining peace through social media.

Kumar said the neighboring states are expected to publicize the prescribed routes of yatra so that tourists and pilgrims visiting Chardham, Mussoorie and Dehradun do not face any problem.

It aims to ensure the safe travel of Kanwariyas coming from Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Rajasthan and other places.

Kanwar Yatra 2022

This year the Kanwar Yatra is scheduled to be held from July 14 to July 26, after a gap of two years due to the Kovid-19 pandemic.

Kanwariyas (devotees of Lord Shiva) collect water from the Ganges River in Haridwar to be offered to Shiva temples in their regions as part of the yatra.

Uttarakhand DGP said that this year, Haridwar and adjoining areas have been divided into 12 super zones, 31 zones and 133 sectors for travel and around 9,000-10,000 security personnel will be deployed to maintain order.
