Joint Commissioner of Goods and Service Tax (Kanpur) Surendra Kumar said on Sunday night that Jain has been arrested on charges of tax evasion.

A senior official said that Kanpur-based businessman Piyush Jain, whose premises were raided by central agencies, has been arrested for tax evasion. He said that the perfume industrialist is likely to be taken from Kanpur to Ahmedabad for further action.

He said the money was allegedly linked to sending goods by a goods transporter with fake invoices and without e-way bill.
