Veteran actress Lilavati was one of the most sought after actresses in the film industry. In a career spanning decades, he went on to act in several Kannada, Tamil and Telugu films. Some of Leelavati’s notable films include Nanda Deepa, Vasanth Lakshmi, Veera Kesari and Sipahi Ramu. Recently, over 50 senior Kannada artistes visited Leelavathi’s farmhouse at Soldevanahalli in Nelamangala taluk. Members of the Karnataka Film Chambers of Commerce wanted to honor Lilavati on the occasion of Women’s Day on March 8 this year. But the 86-year-old could not attend the event due to age-related problems.

Now, the Kannada actors presented a sweet surprise to Leelavathi at her residence. According to reports, he inquired about the health of the actress and asked her to take care of herself. Senior artistes including Tennis Krishna, Pooja Gandhi, Sunder Raj, Padma Vasanthi, Jai Jagdish, Doddana and Sridhar came to meet and felicitate Leelavathi.

As per a report in Bangalore Mirror, the actor reminisced about the time when he worked with Leelavathi. The actress’s son Vinod Raj also prepared lunch for the guests. Popular songs from Lilavati’s films were played on the occasion as the attendees grooved to the beats.

Ba Ma Harish, president of the Karnataka Film Chambers of Commerce, revealed that the event was organized to provide moral support to Lilavati. “I am very happy to meet Lilavati madam,” he said. All the actors and actresses present also got pictures clicked with Lilavati. Sources have claimed that on that day Lilavati along with her son Vinod used to visit other film actors. But now his old age does not allow him to step out. So the Kannada stars decided to meet Leelavathi instead.

Leelavathi made her acting debut in the film Nagakannike. He acted in about 600 films in South Indian languages. Sometime back, Leelavathi grabbed headlines for starting a primary health facility in Soldevanahalli. They have also set up a veterinary hospital in the campus.

“I wanted to do something for animals, so I decided to build a hospital dedicated to animals. I request CM Basavaraj Bommai to depute doctors after completion of work.
