Shabana Azmi is seen taunting Kangana Ranaut in her new tweet.

Shabana Azmi questioned those who were demanding a ban on the Kerala Story. Kangana agreed with him but told that no one asked to ban Laal Singh Chadha.

Actress Shabana Azmi has given the answer Bollywood Star Kangana Ranaut claims that “no one asked to ban” Aamir Khan starrer Laal Singh Chaddha. In a fresh tweet, the veteran actor shared a screenshot of an old article about the petition to ban Laal Singh Chaddha.

Sharing the photo of the online news article, Shabana Azmi wrote, “So Twitterati who are saying only LSC was boycotted and there was no call for ban, please refresh your memory. There was a PIL seeking a ban.”

Shabana Azmi had earlier questioned those who were demanding a ban on producer Vipul Shah’s latest release The Kerala Story. He had tweeted, ‘Those who talk about banning The Kerala Story are as wrong as those who ban Aamir Khan’s film Lal Singh Chadha. Once a film has been passed by the Central Board of Film Certification, no one has the right to become an extra constitutional authority.

Kangana Ranaut agreed with Shabana Azmi, but pointed out that “nobody had asked to ban LSC”. People didn’t want to see it for a number of reasons, the main reason being that it was a remake of a very popular old Hollywood classic that most people had already seen…”

The Kerala Story is facing backlash from a section of political parties and groups who have claimed that the film is not based on facts, and propagates hatred against the Muslim community. Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee On Monday announced a ban on The Kerala Story in the state to “avoid any incidents of hatred and violence”.
