Hyderabad: Veteran actor Kamal Haasan has joined Nag Ashwin’s multilingual sci-fi film ‘Project K’, the makers said on Sunday. Directed by Prabhas and Deepika Padukone, the upcoming big budget film is produced by C Aswani Dutt, founder of Vyjayanthi Movies. Production house Vyjayanthi Movies shared the announcement of Haasan’s casting on their official Twitter page. “Welcome to the legendary actor Ulaganayagan @ikamalhaasaan. Our journey has now become universal. #ProjectK,” Banner tweeted. ‘Project K’ also stars Amitabh Bachchan and Disha Patani.
Amitabh Bachchan also welcomed Kamal and shared a post on Twitter, writing, “Welcome Kamal.. It’s great working with you again.. It’s been a long time!”

Later, Haasan said that he was happy to reunite with Dutt after five decades, when he used to be a dance assistant and Dutt was an assistant director. “Both of us are coming together after 50 years. A brilliant director from our next generation is on board. My co-stars Mr. Prabhas and Ms. Deepika are also from the same generation. I have worked with Amit ji before. Yet every time it feels like the first time. Amit ji keeps on inventing himself. I am also following that inventive process.
“I am eagerly looking forward to ‘Project K’. Wherever the audience places me, my primary quality is that I am fond of films. This quality will continue to compliment any new endeavor in my industry.” Be my first clap for the project.”With the vision of our director Nag Ashwin, I am sure the applause will resonate across our country and the world of cinema,” the “Vikram” star said in a statement.
Dutt is backing this project in the 50th year of his production house. She said that her dream of working with Haasan finally came true with ‘Project K’. The producer said, “It is a great moment for any producer to work together with two great actors – Mr. Kamal Haasan and Mr. Amitabh Bachchan. It is indeed a blessing for me in the 50th year of my career.” Director Ashwin said, “We are all very excited and proud that he has agreed to come onboard and complete our world.”
‘Project K’ is scheduled to hit the theaters on January 12, 2024 in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam. The science-fiction thriller which is being made on a big budget and marks the first-ever collaboration between Prabhas and Nag Ashwin of Mahanati fame.
