Mandya: Kalegowda, resident of Kallinathapura In Nagamangala taluk of Mandya district, he sold a sack of millet to a merchant, unaware that his wife Lakshmimma had used it as a safe box for his jewellery.
Thankfully his wife, Lakshmamma did not regret her decision for long as in a surprising turn of events, the jewels were returned to him.

When Lakshmimma went to Bangalore to meet her daughter, she kept her gold jewelery in a millet sack. She was convinced it was a safe place to keep her jewelry, a place that thieves would not even think to find. However, Lakshmimma did not inform her husband about the jewelery being hidden in the sack. While his wife was in Bengaluru, Kalegowda sold a sack of millet to a broker who, after failing to find a buyer for the crop in neighboring villages, sold it to a rice mill at Basaralu in Mandya district.
The workers of the mill found the bag full of jewellery, along with the bill for their purchase. The workers immediately informed the owner of the mill, Timmegagowda, who was able to contact the owner of the jewelery shop, where the ornaments were purchased. He obtained information about Kalegowda’s address from the shop and returned his treasure after finding out that Lakshmimma was the original owner of the jewellery.
bill led to the owners
“When I saw the bag of jewelry in the sack, I realized that someone must have hidden them there to avoid theft. Had we not found the bill of purchase with the jewels inside the purse, we would not have been able to find Lakshmimma,” said Timmegowda, the mill owner, who used to return the jewellery.
