Kabir Khan shared that religion was never an issue in his marriage with Mini Mathur.

Bajrangi Bhaijaan director Kabir Khan talks about his marriage with Mini Mathur and how religion has never been a bone of contention between them.

Filmmaker Kabir Khan and TV host Mini Mathur recently completed 25 years of marriage. They tied the knot on February 28, 1998 and are parents to two children – son Vivaan Khan and daughter Sanya Khan. In a recent interview, Kabir Khan talked about his married life with Mini Mathur and also revealed whether their religion ever became a problem when they wanted to get married.

In an interview with Humans of Bombay, Kabir Khan revealed that Mini comes from a very traditional Mathur family. Religion was never really an issue, she said, but initially Mini thought there would be many obstacles in trying to convince her extended family. Kabir said, “But it is so beautiful how they all accepted me.”

Kabir also pointed out that religion was never a subject of conflict during his childhood. In fact, he and his parents celebrated all festivals with great enthusiasm, be it Diwali, Eid or Christmas.

The filmmaker claimed that after his parents agreed to the marriage, he performed the wedding rituals on both sides, more for the families than for himself. “I’m actually an atheist, so I don’t really believe in God and religion, so it was very easy for me to accept. We had many fights, we had many issues, but religion was never the one. Stayed.”

In the same interview, Kabir Khan talked about parenting his children with Mini Mathur. She said that she never pushed her children in a particular direction to celebrate their passion, but left them to find their own path. “I have been brought up the way we have brought up our children. We never really tried to push them in one direction. We let them celebrate and follow whatever their passion is. Because I think that’s how you find your way,” he said.

On February 28, on the occasion of their wedding anniversary, Mini Mathur went down memory lane and shared several priceless glimpses along with a long sweet post for Kabir. Check it out:
