New Delhi: The cute and bubbly young Poo in Karan Johar’s Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham has grown up and is all set to make his mark in Bollywood as an adult. Malavika Raj is making her debut in the industry with her first Hindi film ‘Squad’ in the lead role, which will stream on ZEE5. She has previously acted in a few singles and a Telugu film titled Jayadeva.
The young actor disappeared from the silver screen after his role as the young Kareena in the multi-starrer film ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham’. A few years back, he had told the reason for this in an interview. “After ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham’, since I was a very young and naughty kid..my father didn’t want me to act anymore as it would distract me from studies. Even as a child artist, I got a lot. Got some offer. But my father didn’t allow me to act,” she told IANS.
When asked if her father now agrees to her choice of getting into acting, Malavika said, “He is fine with it, he wanted me to get my degree and then do my acting. “
The excited actor shared the poster of his film on his Instagram account. In the poster, Malavika can be seen as a commando with actor Danny Denzongpa’s son Rinzing Denzongpa at the center. ‘Squad’ marks the debut of the veteran actor’s son.
Malavika captioned the picture, “Kya baar ladai ke desh ke ke mahi, desh ki daughter ke liye hai. India fights for its greatest pride.” (This time the fight is not for the country but for his daughter.) He also revealed that the trailer of Squad will release on Monday. Actress Pooja Batra, who starred in the film, shared the film’s poster on her Instagram account with the caption, “Excited to announce my new film Squad.” Pooja’s husband actor Nawab Shah wished her the best and congratulated his wife for her new project. Commenting on the post, he wrote, “Congratulations Pyaar. Wishing you all the very best for the super success of the film.”
