K Files manages to stay steady despite RRR release, collecting Rs. 219 crore

The Kashmir Files has proved to be one of the most successful films of all time, and not just post the pandemic. Vivek Agnihotri movie was made on mid-budget but entered the league of Baahubali with its box-office collections. It collected Rs. 200 crores in the first two weeks. But with the release of a film like SS Rajamouli’s RRR, it was thought that the film would suffer at the box office. However, The Kashmir Files has managed to remain steadfast.

On Saturday, the 16th day, the film earned Rs. 7.25 crores. This was a marked increase from Rs. 4.50 crores on Friday. Now total Rs. 219.08 crores. Looking at the collection, the total collection of The Kashmir Files must be more than Rs. 225 crores after the third weekend.

The Kashmir Files had a modest opening at the box office and the film earned Rs. 3.50 crores on Day 1, but strong word of mouth earned the film Rs. 100 crores by the end of the first week and 100 crores by the end of the second. It also managed to eclipse big budget entertainers like Akshay Kumar’s Bachchan Pandey. What is more commendable is that the biz is stagnant despite the film facing competition from RRR, which is creating a stir at the box-office.

The Kashmir Files stars Anupam Kher, Darshan Kumar, Pallavi Joshi and Mithun Chakraborty in lead roles. It was also dubbed in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam. The film is about the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits from the Valley. It started with a screen count of 630, it was increased to 4000 in the second week, which dropped after the release of RRR. Meanwhile, Vivek Agnihotri has said that he is now ready for a web series on the same subject, and will further work on The Delhi Files as well.
