On her birthday, Minister Firhad Hakim attacked Jyoti Basu on her birthday, using her assessment of the BJP as a tool. The 108th birthday of the former Chief Minister was celebrated in the Vidhan Sabha on Friday. Speaker Biman Banerjee also participated in the function. He lamented that there was no CPM member in the assembly.
On the same day Firhad said, ‘There can be disputes but we respect all good people. This is our custom.’ Recalling Jyoti Basu’s famous quote, he said, “Jyoti Babu was right when he said that BJP is a party of barbarians.”
Speaker Biman Banerjee said, “It is unfortunate that the party which ruled for 4 years, with which we had political disputes, has no representative. ,
Jyoti Basu used to celebrate his birthday casually during his lifetime. He has spent all his birthday like the other five days in his career. Team leaders and well wishers used to come to greet him. But he never celebrated his birthday in a leftist style. In the end too, the proverbial Left leader turned down an offer from the party to celebrate his birthday.
