Journalist conned by tea vendor for Rs 10; IRCTC takes prompt action, delivers money in train

An enjoyable part of his train journey is buying tea from IRCTC vendors, shouting “Chai Bolo Chai” at the top of his voice. Well, they sell a cup of tea for Rs.10. However, Pritam Saha, a journalist with Zee News, recently posted an incident on Twitter, which exposed some of the ill-intentions of the tea vendor and IRCTC’s prompt action capabilities. The journalist paid a Rs 20 note to the vendor, to which he replied to return Rs 10 in a short while. However, the money and the seller failed to return to the journalist.

IRCTC took immediate action after posting the incident on Twitter. The rest of the amount was delivered to the journalist at his seat and it was told that strict action would be taken against the vendor for wrongdoing. The journalist posted, “IRCTC tea seller looting people? Bought tea for 10. 20 paid. Seller said will come back and refund change. But it didn’t happen. It is not just a question of getting the money back. The question is, how many 10 rupees are going in his pocket?

He further posted, ‘Just for more info: Called from this number in the name of IRCTC. Showing 28 spam reports. The person calling on the phone does not appear to be a genuine IRCTC caller. He hardly solves my complaint. Maybe that’s why the amount is 10.” The journalist says that he was getting calls from a phone number where the person on the other side claimed himself to be an IRCTC official. However, Pritam thought it was a spam call.
