Actor Johnny Depp was due to perform with his band Hollywood Vampires in Budapest earlier this week. However, the show was canceled due to ‘unforeseen circumstances’. The Papp Laszlo Sport Arena was already packed with people when the announcement was made.
After news of the show’s cancellation broke, Hollywood Vampires confirmed it on July 18 by sharing a post on Instagram. The note read, “Due to unforeseen circumstances, The Vampires will be canceling tonight’s show in Budapest. All tickets (regular and VIP, including meet and greets) will be fully refunded. We love and appreciate all the fans who came from near and far to see us, and we are truly sorry. Sincere apologies, The Hollywood Vampires.”
It also reported, “We heard so much that (Johnny) Depp partied so much he couldn’t even leave the hotel. We also heard that, of course, a doctor was called in to see if anything was wrong with rock stardom being pushed too far.”
A Twitter user, @cocainecross, also shared a photo of Johnny with a beer cup, claiming it was taken just an hour before the concert. “Here’s Johnny Depp drinking an hour before he had to cancel his concert due to ‘unforeseen circumstances’. He probably passed out again,” the person tweeted. He also said, “Before I arrived, the photographer confirmed this. He claims he ‘fell ill at the hotel’, although he had been drinking just prior to the alleged illness.”
The group also had a show in Slovakia but that too was cancelled. Hollywood Vampires wrote on Instagram on Thursday, “Upon arriving at the venue in Slovakia for tonight’s performance, it was immediately apparent that the facility’s construction was incomplete, and therefore unsafe for both the band and the general public. The band is very upset by this recent and unfortunate turn of events, and hopes to return when the schedule allows.”
