JLF: ‘Gehraiyaan’ fame Ankur Tiwari reveals his music and love for Lata Mangeshkar’s songs

new Delhi: Music composer Ankur Tiwari on Sunday said music is a binding force in a world where people agree and disagree with each other all the time.

“Wherever there is a message of love, people listen,” he said after his performance at the 15th edition of the Jaipur Literature Festival.

Speaking to ABP Live about his gig at JLF-2022, Ankur Tiwari said: “After 3 years, it felt like everyone is together. My band was very happy to perform as well. If it was up to us, , then we would continue it. Perform all night.”

“One of the most interesting things about life is that you meet people who agree or disagree with you. In music, even when people disagree with you, lyrics can enter their hearts. Even That even those who disagree with you will hear your songs.” Music director said.

Apart from being a music director, Ankur Tiwari is also a screenwriter, singer and lyricist. Her recent work in Deepika Padukone starrer ‘Ghehraiyaan’ has garnered her a lot of accolades.

His work includes the 2019 film ‘Gully Boy’, the 2017 film ‘Chef’ and shows like ‘Made in Heaven’ and ‘Four More Shots Please’.

Speaking to ABP Live, Ankur Tiwari spoke about the role of music in people’s lives: “Everybody wants to live with love in this world, music acts as the glue in that.”

When asked what genre he categorizes his music into, the musician replied, “People who sell music classify it into one genre. We just make music. For me, there are only two types of music.” Whatever you like or you don’t like. If it’s moving your body and soul then it’s good music.”

On the work front, he revealed that he is planning to launch his album ‘Alone’ this year. Apart from this, he is working in films like Siddhant Chaturvedi and Ananya Pandey starrer ‘Kho Gaye Hum Kahan’ and Zoya Akhtar’s ‘Nacheeez’.

The singer-music director also spoke about his musical relationship with veteran singer Lata Mangeshkar, who passed away recently.

“With Lata Mangeshkar ji, you think she’s stable. I can’t believe she’s no more because some things in my life have been with me since the beginning. Her music has been steady, so I can’t Can’t imagine he’s not there anymore.”

The 15th edition of the Jaipur Literature Festival, which began on March 5, concluded on Monday. It was held from 10 March to 14 March in a hybrid format with its on-ground events at Clarks Amer, Jaipur, Rajasthan.
