Jammu: Two persons, including a teenager, were injured in a grenade attack on a construction site in Banihal area of Ramban district late Friday night.
Police sources said that some unidentified miscreants hurled a grenade targeting the prefabricated shed. MG Construction Company, which is building the Banihal bypass, which is a part of the four-lane Jammu-Srinagar highway project.
The grenade fell in the area between MG Construction Company’s housing facility and Darul-Uloom Nomanian. madrassaOne worker was injured, identified as Gopal Sharma (35) of Udhampur and a student, Mohammad Aaqib (16), Mangit Khari Banihal. Sources said that he has been admitted to the hospital.
According to the police, at around 11 pm, the miscreants escaped by taking advantage of the darkness by lobbying for the grenade.
Ramban Senior Superintendent of Police PD Nitya said that they received information about the explosion at MG construction site at 11 pm on Friday, injuring two people in the incident.
“Army And paramilitary personnel also reached the blast site and cordoned off the area. The investigation in this regard is on.” SSP Said.
