J&K Police busts Lashkar-e-Taiba terror module in Anantnag, 4 were involved in developing IED

Jammu and Kashmir Police has busted the terror module of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) in Anantnag district, officials said on Monday. He said that busting the IED terror module has helped the police in preventing a major attack in Anantnag city and also saved gullible youth from falling prey to the propaganda of this online module.

A police spokesperson said, “Police in Anantnag busted a terror module belonging to banned terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba and arrested four accused involved in developing IEDs to carry out blasts in Anantnag city.”

He said that the accused were also involved in motivating gullible youths to join the terror group using social media and online platforms.

The spokesman said that incriminating material including grenades have been recovered from them. Giving further details, the spokesperson said that acting on a specific input, a terrorist associate identified as Amir Reyaz Lone, a resident of Baramulla, was arrested and incriminating material including electronic devices was recovered from his possession.

He said that during the analysis it was revealed that he was in contact with active Lashkar terrorist Hilal Sheikh, who is also a resident of Baramulla. The spokesman said that during the investigation and Lone’s disclosure, it was revealed that another terrorist associate identified as Owais Ahmed Shaksaz, a resident of Seer Hamdan, is in the process of making an IED with the help of information received from the internet platform. .

He said that based on this tip-off, Ahmed was arrested. “Further investigation of the case revealed the involvement of two more terrorist associates, who were later arrested,” he said.

He identified them as Suhaib Muzaffar Qazi alias Tamil and Tariq Dar, residents of Rajpora in Pulwama. The spokesman said that Qazi was in direct contact with Pulwama-based active terrorist Aaqib Dar (LeT), who provided him a hand grenade to attack the security forces, the spokesman said, adding that the grenade was recovered at his behest. He said that Dar was found to be in contact with another active terrorist named Aslam Dar of Kulgam and was providing logistical support to the said terrorist.

“Preliminary investigation into the matter revealed that the busted module was working for active terrorists of banned terror outfit Lashkar and was in the process of developing an IED to carry out blasts in Anantnag city,” the spokesperson said.
