J&K: Jaish terrorists, police killed in encounter in Kulgam. five injured

New Delhi: A Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorist and a policeman were killed during an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Wednesday.

Five people, including three soldiers and two civilians, were injured in the incident in Parivaan area of ​​Kulgam district.

The encounter took place when security forces launched a cordon and search operation following information about the presence of terrorists in the Parivaan area, PTI reported. A joint team of police and security forces had cordoned off the area.

Officials said the encounter started after the terrorists opened fire on the security forces.

Inspector General of Police (Kashmir region) Vijay Kumar said that a policeman and a Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorist were killed in the encounter.

Vijay Kumar tweeted, “One Police Personnel SG CT Rohit Chhib martyred, three Army jawans injured. Two civilians also received minor injuries. One terrorist of terrorist organization Jaish killed. Operation is on.”

The incident comes a day after Vijay Kumar reviewed the general security situation in the Valley ahead of the Republic Day celebrations later this month.

Two terrorists were killed in an encounter with security forces in Hasanpora area of ​​Kulgam district on Monday. The slain terrorists have been identified as Imad Muzaffar Wani, a resident of Arigam Pulwama, and Abdul Rashid Thokar, a resident of Hasanpora.
