A multidisciplinary higher education institution established as a philanthropic initiative by Reliance Industries and Reliance Foundation, Jio Institute has partnered with Prof. Guruswamy Ravichandran as Provost. Pro. Ravichandran will join Jio Institute as the founding provost and professor of engineering on July 1, 2022.
Dr. Ravichandran holds a Ph.D. MS in Engineering and MS in Engineering from Brown University, USA, and BE (Hons) degree in Mechanical Engineering from Regional Engineering College NIT Trichy. He is a member of the US National Academy of Engineering, Academia Europaea, foreign member. He received the Warner T. Coiter Medal, American Society of Mechanical Engineers, William M. Murray Lecture Award, Society for Experimental Mechanics, Chevalier de l’Ordre des Palms Academics, Republic of France, among many other awards and recognition for his contribution to research . and teaching.
From 2015 to 2021, he served as the Otis Booth Leadership Chair of the Department of Engineering and Applied Sciences at Caltech. He also served as director of the Graduate Aerospace Laboratories at the California Institute of Technology (GALCIT) from 2009 to 2015.

Jio Institute has also announced admission to its postgraduate certificate programs in the emerging areas of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science and Digital Media and Marketing Communications. These one-year full-time programs will be delivered by leading academics from globally reputed universities and industry leaders. They will be presented from the campus of Jio Institute in Navi Mumbai. Both programs require the candidate to have a minimum 50 percent or equivalent CGPA in a bachelor’s degree and at least eighteen months of work experience thereafter. Jio Institute is also offering up to 100 percent scholarship on tuition fees for the deserving candidates.
