Jharkhand: Police confiscated 425 kg of ganja in East Singhbhum district, three people arrested

In Jharkhand’s East Singhbhum district, police and Narcotics Control Bureau personnel have arrested three persons with 425 kg of ganja on National Highway-6 in a joint operation.

Police said that the joint team arrested the accused during a vehicle checking operation near a petrol pump on Friday. A police officer said the arrests were made within the limits of Bahragora police station.

A Jharkhand police officer said that a tip-off was received that some people may be smuggling ganja from Odisha to Jharkhand. After which the team of Baharagora Police and Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) started vehicle checking operation from Ranchi on Friday night.

The NCB team intercepted a truck coming from Odisha and detected the drug. He said the banned substance was hidden behind sacks of hemp salt. Kumar Saurabh, officer-in-charge of Baharagora police station, said that after the search, a total of 41 bundles of 4.25 quintals of ganja were recovered.

The truck driver and two of his associates have been arrested, he said. Also the truck was confiscated. However, the police official said that they are not yet aware of the estimated price of the banned material.
